This major initiative brought a tangible partnership between the KCC CDC and classroom teachers and their schools, particularly Pitt County, NC Schools, to provide and replenish necessary teaching and instructional supplies. Of course, classroom teachers often exhaust their initial allotment of resources for a school year so Project Replenish attempted to subsidize this too-small allotment so that both teachers and children could reap the benefit. We were able to serve 1000 students and 250 teachers in Pitt County.
EOG/EOC Prep is a free tutoring service offered by KCC CDC to help students in grades 3- 8 prepare for End of Grade and End of Course testing. We had the privileged of partnering together with 19 volunteer educators and professionals who helped to prepare 22 students for testing in 2015.
Preparing for college is a very exciting time but it can also be stressful as there is quite a bit of paperwork to shift through. In an effort to help KCC CDC offered the FAFSA Prep service to parents of high school juniors and seniors to assist with filling out applications for federal student aid.
Lunch and Learn provides a casual, supportive, encouraging and informative environment that exposes an under served population to various subject matters that impact not only their individual daily living, but their families, their community, and their future. For example, Lunch & Learn sessions have provided actual life coaching skills by a professional Life Coach. In 2015 KCC CDC hosted four Lunch & Learn sessions in which 36 people attended.
KCC Community Development Center is currently developing services and programs for the seniors of Pitt County.
